There are manufacturers other than LEGO who create sensors and add-ons that can be used with the EV3 Brick. Often they create custom Programming Blocks which you can download and use in the EV3 Programming environment with their products.

There are four steps required to import an external Block.

1.	Download the block file from the manufacturer’s website to your computer. If it is a compressed .zip file, extract the contents to a folder on your computer. Keep note of the location of the extracted folder. If it is not a .zip file, then follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
2.	Open the Block Import Tool from the Tools menu
3.	Click the Browse button to locate the folder you extracted the files to and then click OK.
4.	You will be presented with a list of Blocks that relate to the file you originally downloaded. Select the Block you wish to Import. Click Import to finalize the procedure.

The palette in which the newly imported block is placed is determined by the manufacturer and this will happen automatically during installation.
