Experiment Set Up

The Experiment Configuration tab is used to set up an experiment. This includes how long the experiment runs, how often it logs data from the sensors, and which sensors will be used to collect data.

You can open Experiment Configuration by clicking the Experiment Configuration tab.

Experiment Configuration
In Duration, select how long you want the experiment to collect data. Choose Seconds or Minutes.

In Rate, select how often you want to log the data. Select Samples per Second or Seconds between Samples.
Tips and Tricks
How do I choose a Rate? The Rate will depend on what you are trying to measure. If you want to record how quickly something is approaching the Ultrasonic Sensor, you may want to measure many Samples per Second (up to a maximum of 1000 Samples per Second). However, if you want to measure how the temperature changes in a cup of water, you might measure at a rate of 60 Seconds between Samples.
Sensor Setup
Once the Duration and Rate have been chosen, the sensors to be logged are set up. The EV3 Brick can log up to eight sensors at a time, with four sensors attached to input ports 1 to 4 and four motors (for measuring Motor Rotation) attached to the output ports A to D.

Sensor Type
Select Sensor
Select Sensor Mode and Unit
Select Port
Select Colour (for the plot)
Delete Sensor
Hardware Auto Identification
If your EV3 Brick is turned on, plugged in, and the Hardware Page is expanded, then the Sensor Setup will automatically be identified.

Once your experiment is configured, you are ready to run it. See Creating Experiments for more information.
